Staying safe in the sun

This is the time of the year the pollen count becomes very high which can become very frustrating for hayfever sufferers, especially as the sun begins to shine and you want to relax or play outside

Tips for the summer

  • Hayfever sufferers should take antihistamines daily – these can be bought over the counter and you can now buy stronger strengths to help (Please seek medical advise from the Pharmacy before taking medications, especially if you are pregnant)
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Asthma/COPD sufferes should ensure they carry their inhalers at all times
  • Vasline around the nostrils can help keep the pollen away
  • Reapply suncream every 2-3 hours
  • Cover as much as possble – t-shirts, caps, loose clothing
  • Find shade and have regular breaks from the sun
