“Do you see me?” – is this year theme throughout the learning disability week.
Aims;
- Educate
- Spread awareness
- Promote Understanding
People with learning difficulties are more likely to experience low self esteem, social-exclusion, bullying and lack of self confidence. All of these often leads to further mental health problems and struggles.
Learning disabilities/difficulties does not mean that an individual is not intelligent but, that they need extra support in learning strategies.
Learning disability weeks helps us all to recognise the difference in some people and help us become aware of how we can help them to learn and how they can find right paths for help and support for themselves. This will then boost a person moral and confidence making them feel a bigger part of the team and thrive through relationships.
