What is Aids?
Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.
AIDS is a number of life threatening infections/illness’ that occur as a result of your body been severely damages by HIV.
Although AIDS cannot be transmitted from 1 person to another – HIV can!
What is HIV?
Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
HIV damages cells within your body which then weakens your immune system and the ability to fight infections.
World AIDS Day
Since 1988 World AIDS Day has been recognised on 1st December annually. The day is held to raise awareness and remove the stigma behind HIV/AIDS
This years theme is “Let Communities Lead”
2023’s approach is to allow people of this community to have a voice, speak out and help to encourage others diagnosed with HIV/AIDS to speak out and help people to understand what challenges the community faces.
Although there is no cure for this, there are treatments that allow us to live normal healthy and long lives. If you are concerned about HIV or AIDS you can be tested in numerous ways.
